I'm Paula Petrone
Hi, I’m Paula Petrone, the founder and CEO of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (OMT) of New York. I am a myofunctional therapist and a dentist in my native country of Colombia.
My myofunctional therapy practice is based in Nassau County, Long Island. However, you don’t have to be local to work with me. Through telemedicine, I can treat patients nationally and internationally. And, of course, I also speak Spanish.
What is OMT?
Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (OMT) is a therapeutic approach that trains the face and mouth muscles for optimal function, helping people overcome habits like thumb-sucking and mouth-breathing to improve breathing, swallowing, speech, and dental health. It's a proactive step towards lifelong wellness, ensuring a healthier, more confident smile.

What can OMT do for me?
01
Enhanced Speech and Dental Health
OMT improves speech clarity and articulation by addressing improper tongue positions, while also promoting proper jaw alignment and reducing the need for future orthodontic treatments.
02
Better Nutricional Intake and Digestion
Corrects swallowing patterns and eliminates harmful oral habits, facilitating better chewing and eating habits, which can improve overall nutritional intake and digestion.
03
Improved breathing and Sleep Quality
By encouraging nasal breathing over mouth breathing, OMT enhances oxygen exchange, respiratory health, and sleep quality, potentially mitigating sleep-disordered breathing conditions like sleep apnea.
04
Optimal Facial Growth & Development
Supports the natural development of facial muscles and structures, contributing to balanced facial aesthetics and preventing malocclusions and TMJD.
